HIV/AIDS in Africa
The Kenyan Government officially declared HIV/AIDS a national disaster in 1998 and since then there have been literally millions of parents who have died, creating a generation of parentless households. Not only are these children extremely traumatised by the death of their parents, they are also vulnerable to physical and sexual abuse.
Located on the outskirts of Nairobi, HOREC (Hope for Orphans Rehabilitation Centre) is a tiny community based organisation which provides both physical and psychological care and support to HIV/AIDS orphans.
What we're about
The Hope for Orphans Rehabilitation Centre (HOREC) looks after and provide ongoing care for children aged between 3 and 15 who have been rescued from the slums of Nairobi, Kenya. Initially it was a home for orphaned girls, but as time has gone on, several brothers of the girls have been able to stay on at the centre as well. This is part of our plan to keep families together.
HOREC promises that 100% of the funds raised go directly to the charity.
